The Mets got the best of a pair of west coast opponents this week, taking two out of three from the San Diego Padres at home before travelling to Oakland and sweeping the Athletics. Contributions came from up and down the roster, but Francisco Lindor and David Robertson went above and beyond while coming up clutch in key moments.

Hitter of the Week

Francisco Lindor endured somewhat of a cold stretch to open the year but turned it around in a big way this week.

On Monday, Lindor ripped a two-run double off of Yu Darvish in the seventh inning that provided the Mets two insurance runs. Then, on Wednesday, he blasted a 367-foot solo shot off Blake Snell for his second homer of the year in the third inning tie the game at 2-2.

Lindor picked up right where he left off against Oakland on Friday night, mashing a grand slam in the second and a bases-clearing double in the fifth as part of a seven-RBI day. He closed the week out on Sunday with yet another home run, this time against JP Sears, that gave the Mets a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning.

Lindor recorded a hit of each of the Mets’ six games this week on his way to a slash line of .304/.407/.826 to go with three homers and 11 RBI. Lindor also currently leads all shortstops with 16 RBI and is in a four-way tie atop the home run leaderboard at the position with four.

Pitcher of the Week

David Robertson has more or less become the Mets’ de facto closer in wake of Edwin Díaz’s injury and has dazzled so far as his replacement.

Robertson’s first appearance of the week came on Monday against the Padres where he struck out Trent Grisham and Juan Soto as part of a perfect eighth inning. His next outing came on Wednesday in the rubber match against San Diego as he pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts while recording his first hold of the year.

Robertson picked up his third save of the year on Saturday after a pitch clock snafu before tallying
another in Sunday’s contest. He came in during the bottom of the 10th and overcame some adversity in the form of a hit by pitch and wild pitch to strand runners at second and third with one out to secure a sweep for the Mets.

In total this week, Robertson threw 4 1/3 innings with a 0.00 ERA, five strikeouts and two saves.
