Kevin Plawecki told reporters on Friday he’s headed to Florida in the next step of progression in his rehab and will spend the next week hitting before hopefully beginning a rehab assignment soon.
The New York Mets catcher has been on the disabled list with a hairline fracture in his right hand since the middle of April.
In other Mets injury news, T.J. Rivera is still expected to be out until at least July as he continues to rehab from Tommy John surgery last September according to Tim Britton of The Athletic.
Britton also reports that Mets reliever Anthony Swarzak is long tossing in Port St. Lucie and is still weeks away from returning. He suffered a strained olbique on March 31.

New York Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki started his hitting progression on Wednesday according to Tim Healey of Newsday.
Healey also reports Plawecki, working his way back from fractured left hand in mid-April, caught baseballs for the first time on Tuesday since getting hurt.
The Mets said on Wednesday they’re encouraged that Plawecki’s grip strength in his broken left hand has doubled in recent days.
Plawecki, 27, will begin catching bullpen sessions in the next few days and is likely still weeks away from the majors.
The Mets catching duo right now is veteran light-hitting Jose Lobaton and recently acquired Devin Mesoraco. Young catcher Tomas Nido was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
In seven games this year, he has hit .150/.393/.200 with one RBI. Last year, in 118 plate appearances he hit .260/ 364/ .400. This includes a very strong finish to his season.
