Right-handed pitchers Tyler Stuart and Dylan Tebrake have been promoted from the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones to Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Both pitchers were selected in the draft last year with Stuart being a sixth round pick and Tebrake being an eighth round pick.

Stuart, 23, leads all of Minor League Baseball with his 1.55 ERA this season in 14 starts for Brooklyn. The 6’9” righty has made 14 starts this season and hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of them. He has 84 strikeouts and 23 walks in 75 2/3 innings and has given up only three home runs in that span.

Stuart is mostly a fastball and slider pitcher that works in a changeup at times as well. I’ve watched multiple starts this year when he threw his slider around 50% of the time. The fastballs (throws two & four-seamer) are mostly in the 92-95 mph range with the two-seamer getting good late break. That late movement and Stuart’s ability to command the pitch in the sound have resulted in a solid 49.5% ground ball rate.

I had Stuart ranked No. 24 on my Top 35 Mets prospect list that I updated in May. I would expect him to be a little higher than that when I release my updated rankings next week.

Tebrake, 24 yesterday, had a sparkling 2.08 ERA in 26 innings for the Cyclones this year as a reliever. Tebrake struck out a whopping 40 batters in that span and allowed only 15 hits. He hasn’t allowed a home run in 30 pro innings. Tebrake throws his fastball 93-96 mph and gets above-average spin on the pitch as he does on his slider and curveball too.

Tebrake won back-to-back Big East Pitcher of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022 as a starter for Creighton.

There will be a customary flurry of roster moves today as the minor league teams start their second half at the same time the 2023 MLB draft picks are signing.
