According to a report released by ESPN’s Adam Rubin, Mets pitching prospect Michael Fulmer will remain on the disabled list for the remained of the season.
Fulmer was getting back into form after rehabbing from a torn meniscus which was injured earlier this Spring. He came back to throw in nine appearances, two for the GCL Mets and seven for the St. Lucie Mets, before a comebacker by a rehabbing Casey Kotchman deflected off of him and knocked him out of the game. He has since been diagnosed with bicep tendinitis and will remain on the DL with a right shoulder strain.
At the time of his injury, executives claimed his removal was more precautionary and not truly necessary. Fulmer has not pitched since August 18, and will not return to action at any point through September 1, when the St. Lucie Mets play their last regular season game, or throughout any possible playoff appearances..
Prior to his injury, Fulmer was 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA over 34.0 innings pitched. The 6-3 right hander had pitched his was to 13 earned runs, 29 strikeouts and a 1.235 WHIP. Fulmer, the Mets pick in the supplemental round of the 2011 draft, was a highly promising prospect before being taken down by injuries. He shows signs of a solid fastball, decent slider and was working on mastering an effective changeup.
