As per Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News,  Mickey Callaway has announced and confirmed that Phillip Evans has indeed made the Opening Day roster.

Evans, 25, has hit .261/.382/.457 this spring with three doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI in 46 at-bats.

In seven seasons in MiLB, his slash line is .260/.323/.360 with 30 home runs and 226 RBI in 609 games played.

After making his MLB debut toward the end of last season for the Mets, the team gave him ample opportunities in Grapefruit League play and he made the most of them.

An infielder by trade, Callaway has had Evans playing all over the field this spring, mostly in the outfield but he did finish out the team’s game yesterday behind the plate.

Evans figures to serve in a bench role, at least until Michael Conforto is ready to return.
