Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Philadelphia Phillies are not done trying to reinforce their bullpen as they have shown interest in former Mets setup man Addison Reed.
The 28-year-old is expected to command a three-to-four year deal on the open market and is coming off a season in which he pitched to the tune of a 2.84 ERA in 77 appearances between the Mets and Boston Red Sox.
This is the second consecutive year with 77+ appearances for Reed as he had 80 the previous year.
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Phillies are looking at an arm to stabilize their rotation as well, with Jake Arrieta being the target he highlights.
Arrieta is coming off a season in which he posted a 14-10 record with a 3.53 ERA in 168 2/3 innings. The 31-year-old is looking to cash-in on his first time in free agency and with Scott Boras as his agent, it will take a hefty commitment on the Phillies’ end.
The Phillies already signed Pat Neshek yesterday and are primed to remain active as they only are expected to have $39.9 million in commitments for next season according to Baseball-Reference.
