The Philadelphia Phillies, who are projected to be big spenders this winter, made their first splash on Tuesday, agreeing to a three-year deal with outfielder Andrew McCutchen. Matt Gelb of The Athletic was the first to report the deal.

McCutchen, 32, split last season between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees, and hit .255/.368/.424 with 20 homers and 65 RBI.

The longtime Pirate will get $50 million over three years with Philadelphia, according to Jon Heyman of FanCred.

The Phillies, who were big players for Patrick Corbin before he signed with the Washington Nationals, presumably still have several big moves up their sleeves.

The move for McCutchen does not necessarily preclude them from chasing outfielder Bryce Harper as well, according to some buzz around Twitter.
