The Mets have confirmed that Ronny Paulino will be activated from the disabled list for Friday’s game in Philadelphia.
Paulino caught all nine innings on Tuesday for Triple-A Buffalo and went 0-for-4.

Since the Mets first signed catcher Ronny Paulino on December 7th, he’s been pretty scarce in the Mets clubhouse. First it was a one month delay due to visa problems stemming from his PED suspension, then it was a blood abnormality, and most recently an intercostal strain.
Paulino was originally slated to be activated today, but that’s not going to happen although the Mets say he will finally make his Mets debut some time this week.
If and when that does happen, it will signal the end of the road for rookie Mike Nickeas who has served as the backup for starting catcher Josh Thole.
Paulino, who just turned 30, could serve the team well as the backup catcher and a bat off the bench. He has been very successful batting against left-handed pitchers whom he has feasted on throughout his career sporting a .338/.390/.491 slashline against them.
The other thing is that if Josh Thole doesn’t start swinging the bat better very soon, Paulino could also steal some playing time against right-handed pitching as well.
But first he has to finally get here. So far that has been the tough part.
