Confirming what Puma reported earlier, Roessler has officially been named as the Mets hitting coach.
Additionally, Ricky Bones will remain as the Mets bullpen coach, according to Puma.

The Mets coaching staff has seen a big shakeup after finishing 70-92 in 2017, with manager Terry Collins, pitching coach Dan Warthen, bench coach Dick Scott and trainer Ray Ramirez all being dismissed from the team. However, one name that will reportedly be back is assistant coach Pat Roessler.
With Kevin Long‘s return to the team extremely unlikely at this point with the team also ready to move on, Roessler will now see an expanded role with the Mets going forward, sources told the Daily News. He is reportedly finalizing a two-year deal with the team.
The 57-year-old turned down an offer to be a major league hitting coach within the division last year. Long, who Roessler has worked with since his time with the Yankees, was disappointed after the team chose Mickey Callaway to call the shots.
Third base coach Glenn Sherlock and now Roessler the only two incumbents to return in 2018. However, the rest of Callaway’s staff will be announced soon.
Roessler formerly served as the hitting coach for the Montreal Expos in 2000 and 2001 and the director of player development with the Yankees from 2005-14 before joining the Mets.
Additionally, first base coach Tom Goodwin‘s contract expired on Oct. 31 and he is unlikely to return, according to Kristie Ackert of the Daily News.
