Some quick items of note from Mets manager Terry Collins who spoke to beat reporters just a short while ago…

The Mets have placed reliever Bobby Parnell on the 15 day disabled list with numbness in his finger. He is expected to undergo further tests tomorrow including an MRI to try and see if he has a blood clot.

For now, team doctors have placed Parnell on an aspirin regimen which will act as a blood thinner to help treat the clot and avoid surgery.

Parnell’s spot on the roster will be replaced tomorrow, when Jason Bay is activated from the disabled list.

This now means that Jason Isringhausen will be the new setup man and the bridge to closer Francisco Rodriguez. Izzy has been solid since being activated and has considerable experience as a late game option.

Also, Dillon Gee who pitched effectively in his first start for the Mets, will get at least one more start before Chris Young is expected to be activated from the disabled list. Young is expected to pitch in a simulated game tomorrow.
