According to SI.com, the San Diego Padres have hired former Mets GM Omar Minaya.

Minaya, the former GM of the Montreal Expos, held the same post with the New York Mets from 2005 to 2010.

The Dominican-born Minaya was baseball’s first Latino general manager, and Angels owner Arte Moreno, who was baseball’s first Latino owner, was also considering Minaya for the GM job before hiring Jerry DiPoto.

Several other teams had expressed interest in bringing in Minaya.
