A big Tip-Off thanks to Joe DeCaro and the MMO readers who submitted Met Themed Holiday Songs that we performed on Friday morning’s Tip-Off hour. The submissions were few but the creativity and optimism was brimming. The Dawg and I had a lot of fun, likely at our listener’s expense, with the show.
The Met themed remakes of holiday tunes points to a newly found sense of optimism amongst Met fans. As promised we said we’d send along the lyrics of the tunes we performed. We tried to stay true to the lyrics of the author’s but did sometimes make small edits to match the karaoke music we used in the background.
Joe D., who spun rock music lyrics many moons ago, submitted his version of Let It Snow. A special thanks to Joe for his offer to provide MetsMerized T-Shirts to the fans who submitted songs.

Bob Fuchs, from Rye, New York has been a Met fan since that inaugural Met season in 1962. Bob was a Brooklyn fan until the Dodger’s moved to the other side of the continent. When the National League brought another team to town, Bob was all in for the Metropolitans. Bob says pulling for the Dodgers when ‘dem Bums reached the World Series again and again, only to fall to the hated Yankees in the fall classic steeled him for the years that followed pulling for those “Lovable Losers” the early Mets. The way Bob sees it losing builds character and after all these years as a Met fan Bob has the character of Hercules. Like Joe D, Bob’s song went to the tune of Let It Snow.

Andrew Hochhauser became a Met fan to honor his Grandfather. Andrew’s Granddad was a great baseball fan and a true and blue Met fan. When Andrew was only in kindergarten he lost his Grandfather and, even though he knew next to nothing about baseball, decided to follow his Grandfather and root of the Mets. By the fifth grade Andrew was watching every game and has stuck with his team through thick and thing. Andrew likes the fact that the Mets have an uncanny ability to stay young and always symbolize hope. Andrew lives on Long Island in Suffolk County and his Met themed song goes to the melody of Jingle Bells.
