Monday’s game was a tale as old as time for the New York Mets. Entering Cincinnati for a three-game series, the team’s hot-and-cold streak landed on the wrong side of things in a 12-0 shutout loss to the Reds.

Tobias Myers, in his first appearance since being recalled, exited after only 1.1 innings of work, allowing seven runs (all earned) on four hits, three walks and one strikeout.
Jonathan Pintaro came in after Myers couldn’t get out of the second inning, surrendering the gut punch grand slam to Eugenio Suárez to make it 9-0.
JJ Bleday took David Peterson deep in the eighth to make it a 12-0 game.
The Mets’ offense had plenty of opportunities to respond, but instead, left the bases loaded in three innings. On the night, the team went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.
Bo Bichette was the standout of the night for the Mets’ lethargic offense, tallying another multi-hit performance (3-for-5 with two doubles). However, Chase Burns and the Reds’ bullpen (who owns the third-worst bullpen era in the majors this season), proved to be all too much for a Mets team that just took the weekend series against the first-place Braves.
Player of the Game
In a game that had very few bright spots for the Mets, Bichette takes Metsmerized’s Player of the Game honors after tallying his fourth consecutive multi-hit game.
