Manager Luis Rojas spoke to the media before the Mets doubleheader against the Cardinals in St. Louis, he said that Brandon Nimmo won’t start Game 1 and that the plan is for Miguel Castro to start Game 2.

Rojas said that Nimmo is being reevaluated and his unsure of his status for Game 2. The Mets outfielder has been dealing with a left index finger contusion and hasn’t been in the lineup since May 1. Nimmo is leading the Mets with a 146 OPS+ in 21 games.

Castro is scheduled to start Game 2, though Rojas said that won’t stop him from using Miguel in the first game if need be. Marcus Stroman is starting the first game and Jordan Yamamoto will likely be the length guy in the second game. Yamamoto was scratched from his Triple-A start on Tuesday and was flown to St. Louis immediately.

Francisco Lindor will bat leadoff and Kevin Pillar will hit cleanup in Game 1 against a left-handed starter in the absence of Nimmo.
