Terry Collins decided to sit outfielder Brandon Nimmo on Tuesday and Wednesday with the Mets facing a left-handed starter but he was back in the lineup on Thursday with a righty on the mound.

Nimmo went 2 for 5 with a double and a run batted in while playing left field and batting in the number two slot.

The 24-year-old is now slashing .284/.410/.414 with six doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI in 145 major league plate appearances in 2017.

With the Mets facing another lefty tonight in Sean Newcomb it will be interesting to see if Nimmo is back on the bench.

At this point in the season there is no reason to sit Nimmo, he should be playing everyday regardless of what hand the starting pitcher throws with.

Nimmo has a chance to be part of the Mets answer to an outfield depth issue in 2018, which is sorely needed with the question of when Michael Conforto will return healthy.

Very small sample size but Nimmo has six walks in 29 plate appearances (.393) against lefties this year though he’s just 5 for 22 (.227).
