Brandon Nimmo has been nothing short of a true professional this season.

Whether he’s starting, coming in off the bench, or even being demoted to Triple-A, he just wants what’s best for the team.

Seeing him smile and never complain about his role makes it that much sweeter when he does well.

On Sunday’s 3-2 walk-off win against the Milwaukee Brewers, Nimmo played a big role, going 3-for-5 and coming up just short of the cycle to help propel the Mets to victory.

“He played a great game,’’ Mets manager Mickey Callaway said. “His at-bats are always really good. It’s a challenge to get him out there. Our outfield is one of the best in the major leagues as far as I’m concerned. We have some really good hitters out there already, and to try and get at-bats for Nim and [Juan] Lagares is tough.’’

Nimmo singled in the first and tripled in the fourth, but his big bop came with the Mets down 2-1 in the sixth. The outfielder got a hold of one and launched his first homer of the year to knot the game up going into the late goings.

The former first round pick has proved he can get on base, be speedy on the base paths and flash the occasional power. He’s also become a fan favorite with his infectious smile.

He’s also rolled with the punches and been an A+ teammate.

“You have to just try and help out the team however you can,’’ Nimmo said. “What’s special about this team, if you talk to a lot of the guys around here, it’s the most talented team they’ve played on. So yeah, that makes at-bats hard to come by but that also makes a World Series a very plausible thing. How many opportunities do you get to do that? I want to be part of a World Series team. And if that means I need to come off the bench and put up a good at-bat for a pinch hit or whatever, it may be then that’s what I’m going to do.

“If they need me to start because someone is feeling a little rough that day, then that’s what I’m gonna do. They’ll get the best effort that I can because I want to see this team winning the World Series at the end of the year.’’

While it may be hard for Nimmo to find playing time, his contributions to the team on and off the field are second to none.
