Mets’ outfielder Brandon Nimmo played all nine innings in center field and went 3-for-4 at the dish Sunday afteroon for Triple-A Syracuse.
Nimmo, 26, enjoyed his best rehab game so far, with two of his hits being doubles, while also scoring three runs and collecting two RBI.
The Wyoming native has been sidelined since late May with a bulging cervical disk in his neck and the effects of whiplash.
Nimmo began his rehab assignment on Aug. 20 and after his big game can be nearing a return.
On the campaign this year, Nimmo has appeared in 43 games and has a .200/.344/.323 triple slash with three home runs and 14 RBI.
With the Mets’ mustering up just seven runs in their three game set with the Atlanta Braves this weekend, they could use Nimmo’s bat to ignite some life back into the offense.
While his triple slash on this season is underwhelming, the fourth-year outfielder had an OPS of .886 in 140 games for the Mets last season.
