In tonight’s contest against the Philadelphia Phillies, Mets’ center fielder Brandon Nimmo was replaced by Juan Lagares to begin the third inning after suffering what trainers have diagnosed as a left oblique “twinge.”

Nimmo, who reached on a fielding error to score Zack Wheeler in the preceding frame, was looked at briefly by first base coach Glenn Sherlock and head trainer Brian Chicklo, wincing and pointing towards his lower back before trying to jog it off. Nimmo had one hit in 13 trips to the plate after returning from a bout with neck stiffness that had sidelined him last Tuesday.

The Mets have told reporters that Nimmo had been lifted as a precaution, though one can expect more details emerge following the game. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
