jon niese

Terry Collins told reporters that Jon Niese will start in the season finale against the Brewers on Sunday.

After his last start on Tuesday, Collins said that there was a strong possibility that Niese would be shutdown for the season based on different factors.

Niese missed nearly two months of this season rehabbing from a partially torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder. Since his return on August 11, Niese is 5-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 60.0 innings.

“Ever since he’s come back, he’s pitched as good as I’ve ever seen Jon Niese throw in the time I’ve been here,” Mets manager Terry Collins said.

I’m glad to see Niese will be pitching the season finale and hope he closes out the season on a high note.
