The New York Mets announced they’ve activated All-Star Jeff McNeil from the paternity list ahead of their four-game series with the Cubs in Chicago starting on Thursday. Jeff and his wife Tatiana had a baby boy named Lucas early on Wednesday morning. Congratulations to the McNeil family!

McNeil missed the entirety of the Atlanta Braves series but the Mets were still able to pull out two of three in Atlanta. The 30-year-old is slashing .311/.371/.436 with 19 doubles, one triple, and four home runs this season for the Mets.

The versatile McNeil has performed to a 2.2 WAR level this season already after putting up a 1.4 WAR season in 2021. He has been a solid defender all over the field this year with 46 games at second base, 27 games in left field, four games in right field, and one game at third base.

To make room for McNeil on the active roster, the Mets have designated veteran outfielder Ender Inciarte for assignment. Inciarte has gone 1-for-8 in his brief stint with the Mets this season, being mostly used as a pinch runner and defensive replacement.
