SNY has officially announced Nelson Figueroa as the new Mets studio analyst for pre and post games shows.

“Having grown up in Coney Island as a Mets fan, getting to play for them during a 19-year journey that’s taken me all around the world, and now coming full circle back to New York to cover this team is truly amazing,” Figueroa said. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Bob Raissman of the Daily News confirms that Nelson Figueroa will indeed become SNY’s new full-time Mets studio analyst.

MLB TV moles say Figueroa, the loquacious journeyman pitcher who was with the Mets in 2008-2009, agreed to a deal with SNY late last week.

Figueroa will replace Bobby Ojeda, who spent six seasons in SNY’s Mets pre- and postgame studio. Ojeda wanted to return this season but he and SNY suits could not reach agreement on financial terms of a new deal.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Figueroa has done some work with MLB Network and sources told Raissman he and his wife and daughter will move from their home in Arizona to New York.

We wish Figgy lots of luck as he gets set to fill some big shoes from the very well liked Bobby O.
