Things looked bad yet again for New York on Sunday. Squandering a 3-1 lead with their star ace, Noah Syndergaard on the mound. With his team trailing 4-3 in the seventh, Neil Walker was ready to turn the tide.

A blast to left-center, a three-run shot off the bat of Walker. Giving the Mets a 6-4 lead that would hold up, as they maneuvered their way around being swept in a four-game set by Colorado. Walker is beginning to get hot yet again, showing shades of the player he was in April.

“It was a pretty big hit,’’ Walker said. “It’s no secret we’ve been grinding hard here, looking for those moments to take a strange-hold of games. Fortunately, this gave us some life.” (NY Post)

A big hit is an understatement. A game changer that took what looked to be another slow dying death of a loss, turned into a triumphant victory. Manager, Terry Collins knew just how big this win was as his team has been floundering.

“It’s a huge win for us,” Collins said. “We can’t look at anything but ourselves. We can’t look at where we are in the standings. We can’t look at the scoreboard. We’ve got to take care of our own business and I thought today, this was a big win for us and it gets us going a little bit.’’

Walker ended the day 3-for-4 with the homer to go along with four RBI. He has been on absolute fire as of late. The Mets second baseman has hit to a .462/.500/.692 slash line over his last seven games now.
