1984 – The Mets acquire infielder Howard Johnson from the Tigers in exchange for right-hander Walt Terrell. Johnson would go on to play nine seasons in Queens, slashing .251/.341/.459 with 192 home runs and 629 RBI.
1988 – The Mets send 1986 World Series champion Wally Backman to the Minnesota Twins for three minor-leaguers (Jeff Bumgarner, Steve Gasser, Toby Nivens).
