Good morning New York Mets fans, the Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves 7-6 on Tuesday night at SunTrust Park as the bullpen collapsed again.

Tonight, the Mets send Jason Vargas to the mound against Julio Teheran as they look to even the series in the last game of the road trip. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. at SunTrust Park.

Mets left-hander Steven Matz left Tuesday night’s contest with the Atlanta Braves prior to the bottom of the fourth inning with what the team is calling middle finger discomfort. X-rays came back negative. The injury occurred on a swing and miss when the bat flew out of his hand, he will go for an MRI.

The Mets placed right-hander Noah Syndergaard on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to May 26) with a strained ligament in his right index finger, according to a tweet from the team.

Syndergaard will throw a bullpen session this weekend and manager Mickey Callaway expects him to be on the disabled list for the minimum 10 days.

After pitching just three innings on Saturday, Jason Vargas will pitch tonight on short rest. After pitching two innings out of the bullpen on Monday, Seth Lugo will start on Thursday.

The Mets announced that they have optioned P.J. Conlon to Triple-A. Gerson Bautista had been the 26th man for Monday’s ddoubleheader but after Conlon’s poor showing, the Mets decided to keep Bautista.

Todd Frazier told Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review-Journal that “everything’s gone well” prior to his rehab. Frazier added that he’ll be done “hopefully by the end of the week here in Reno, I’ll be able to help the big league club here soon.”

Reliever Anthony Swarzak was in Las Vegas to begin a rehab assignment yesterday with the 51s. He allowed a bunt single and struck out a pair while throwing 16 pitches over a scoreless inning.

Former Mets Mookie Wilson and Ray Corbett will represent the team at the June draft this year.
