Buck Showalter told the media on Friday that Justin Verlander will throw a bullpen session in Port St. Lucie today. Verlander has been on the injured list since Opening Day with a right teres major strain and his bullpen session today is another step in the right direction to getting him on the mound for his Mets debut. Verlander said last week that it is “very reasonable” to expect he will be back by the end of April.

The Mets beat the A’s 17-6 on Friday night, drawing 17 total walks and being helped by Francisco Lindor‘s seven RBIs which tied a career high. The Mets will go for the series victory this afternoon at 4:07 p.m. ET.
