Good morning, Mets fans!

Tonight, Jason Vargas (2-5, 7.39 ERA) will hope that the Mets offense will stay on fire. The Mets scored 12 runs and 14 hits in yesterday’s contest. Vargas will be matched by German Marquez (4-7, 5.13 ERA). The game can be viewed on SNY and 710WOR at 8:40 p.m.

Jacob deGrom characteristically put on a clinic, going eight innings and allowing just one run. He didn’t have his best stuff, but battled through eight frames. Meanwhile the Mets offense picked up where it left off in Arizona.

Brandon Nimmo led off the game with an inside-the-park home run, marking the third-ever leadoff inside-the-park homer in Mets history. Michael Conforto tallied three more hits and two doubles and has hopefully turned the corner after a rough start to the season. The Mets pounded Rockies relievers Jeff Hoffman and Brook Pounders to top off a 12-2 victory.
