Good morning Mets fans! The Mets have an off day today, but they return home to take on the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.

Yesterday, the Mets defeated the San Diego Padres 14-2 to take the three game series. Adrian Gonzalez had himself a day, homering and driving in five runs. Check out the highlights below:

Yoenis Cespedes left yesterday’s game with what is being called a sore left thumb. X-rays came back negative and he is expected to be reevaluated today. Cespedes himself said he has dealt with this issue before, and expects to miss just three days.

Steven Matz upper back was stiff on Saturday, and he tested it out in a bullpen yesterday. As a precaution, the Mets will push back his start until Saturday against the Rockies.

The next five in the rotation will be as follows: Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, Jason Vargas, Zack Wheeler and Matz.

Mickey Callaway told reporters yesterday that Jay Bruce will be used at first base “now and again.” He added it would probably come in spots when the Mets face several righty starters in a row.

OF Peter Bourjos has been released by the Atlanta Braves, Bourjos was designated for assignment earlier this week.
