The 2020 candidates include 18 first-timers including the likes of Bobby Abreu, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter and Cliff Lee. The ballot also features 14 returning players including the likes of Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Larry Walker. Pittsburgh Pirates third base coach Joey Cora has emerged as a candidate for the Mets’ vacant bench coach position according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Fredi Gonzalez and Jerry Narron are two of the other known candidates for the job.

2002: Jesse Orosco, former Met and all-time leader in MLB games pitched, agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract with the San Diego Padres. Orosco went on to play for three teams in what became his 24th and final season in MLB.
