2010: Kazuo Matsui decided to leave the MLB and join the Japan Pacific League. In 2004, the Mets recruited Matsui from overseas after he hit 36 home runs, hitting .332, and fielding his position at a gold glove level the season before for the Seibu Lions. He went on to play 239 games as a Met across three seasons while being limited by numerous injuries. A fun fact about Matsui is that he is the only player in MLB history to homer in the first plate appearances of his first three seasons, a feat that he accomplished as a Met.
