Steven Cohen is the new owner of the New York Mets! Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported the MLB Owner vote in favor of Cohen and Tim Healey of Newsday reported the approval by the City of New York.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post shared the comments from Steve Cohen’s statement on the approval, where Cohen announced that he will be reinstating the full salaries of Mets employees pre-pandemic, thus reversing the 5-30% salary cuts that were implemented in March. Tim Healey posted Cohen’s entire statement on Twitter.

After 40 years being the majority owner of the Mets, Fred Wilpon made a statement on the sale of the team, which can be found here.

Noah Syndergaard comments on the sale of the New York Mets: “All I plead is that the new owner treats players and personnel in the organization like people and less like expendable commodities. That being said, I couldn’t be more excited having the real life Bobby Axelrod leading the charge.” Syndergaard disclosed his comments to Mike Puma with the NY Post.

Mike Mayer of MetsMerizedOnline reported that the Mets have claimed right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Anthony DiComo of MLB reported that the Mets also claimed right-handed reliever Jacob Barnes off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.
