The Cardinals are offering the most from their major league roster, while the Padres are willing to give up the most talent from their farm system.

The win was the Mets’ sixth in a row and they’re now a season-best 27 games over .500. They now head to the Nation’s Capital for a three-game series with the last-place Nationals. Max Scherzer (6-2, 2.09 ERA) will toe the rubber against southpaw Patrick Corbin (4-14, 6.49 ERA) in the series opener. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.

Jacob deGrom says he still plans on opting out of his contract after this season.The two-time Cy Young award winner is set to make $65 million over the last two seasons of the five-year, $137.5 million contract he signed back in 2019.

Trevor May indicated on an Instagram post that he is being activated for the series in Washington. The right-handed reliever has been sidelined since early May with a triceps injury.
