Good morning, Mets fans!

On Tuesday night, the New York Mets won their fifth straight game, in their 5-0 victory against the Miami Marlins. Zack Wheeler had the best outing of his season tossing eight shutout innings. Wheeler has thrown 15 consecutive scoreless innings since the trade deadline and now owns a 4.20 ERA.

The Mets started off the game, as they have in their last six, with first-inning run production. Todd Frazier got the ball rolling with a two-out double over the head of LF Jon Berti to give his team a quick 1-0 lead. The Mets next scoring opportunity came in the third inning with two runners, Jeff McNeil and J.D. Davis, on for Wilson Ramos.

Ramos lined his 12th homer of 2019 over the right-center field wall for a three-run homer to extend the Mets’ lead to 4-0. And they weren’t even done scoring yet. Pete Alonso came up in the bottom of the fifth and did what he does best by driving another homer over the left-field fence for his 36th home-run of the season.

Steven Matz (6-7, 4.60) will take the mound on Wednesday against Jordan Yamamoto (4-2,3.94) in the rubber match of this four-game series against the Miami Marlins. Matz’s last two starts have been a great reflection of his season as a whole. On the one hand, he just threw his first complete-game shutout, but then he lasted only 3 2/3 innings giving up five runs in his last start. Both starts were against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The game will be broadcasted on SNY and has a scheduled start time of 12:10 p.m. The game can be heard on WCBS 880 AM or ESPN 1050 AM.
