Staub’s first home run came off of Reds starter Ross Grimsley in the first inning. He hit his second blast in the second inning off of Tom Hall, this one being a three-run blast. It was the first one-hitter thrown in the post-season since the 1967 World Series. The lone Giants hit was a fifth-inning double by Jeff Kent. The Mets scored four runs off of Giants starter Mark Gardner, including a two-run first-inning homer by Robin Ventura.
