Good morning and Happy New Year’s Eve Mets fans! As a whole, the 2010s were not exactly ideal for Mets fans, but they had a couple of bright spots in the middle of the decade (2015-2016). For better or for worse, in a few hours the 2010s will be in the past.

However, as our own wrote, the Mets are in a better spot heading into the 2020s than they were heading into the 2010s. So here’s hoping for a roaring 20s for the New York Mets! In regards to this last decade for the Mets, in the words of Howie Rose, you can “Put it in the books!”

While tonight the world counts down to new year and new decade, it is important to note for Mets fans that the countdown for pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training is currently at 41 days.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com wrote about 10 historic performances in 2019, which included RHP Jacob deGrom winning his second consecutive Cy Young Award and 1B Pete Alonso setting the single-season rookie home run record.

The New York Mets will have their annual winter blood drive on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST in the Foxwoods Club at Citi Field. Those who donate will receive two tickets to a select Mets game in 2020.

The Mets will have two giveaways during Opening Weekend. On Saturday, Mar. 28 the Mets will give away Alonso Rookie of the Year bobbleheads and on Sunday, Mar. 29 they will give away deGrom Cy Young Award bobbleheads.

Three teams officially announced their free agent signings that were reported on earlier in the month.
