On Tuesday, Pete Alonso reached a major milestone by hitting his 253rd career home run, breaking Darryl Strawberry’s long-standing franchise record. This achievement cements his place as the most prolific power hitter in Mets history.
Plus, the Mets ended their losing streak with a 13-5 victory over the division rival Braves. They were powered by six home run including two from Alonso and two from Francisco Alvarez. On the mound, Justin Hagenman closed out the game with four hitless innings to secure the save.
Today, the Mets aim to secure back-to-back wins agains former Met Carlos Carrasco (2-2, 6.18 ERA). New York will counter with David Peterson (7-5, 2.98 ERA). The game starts at 7:10 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on SNY.

Some news from Tuesday: Frankie Montas has been shifted to the Mets’ bullpen and will therefore not make his scheduled start on Saturday. Additionally, Paul Blackburn won’t be available for a spot start if he pitches for Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. This creates an opportunity for top prospects Nolan McLean and Brandon Sproat to fill the rotation spot.
Triple-A Syracuse has released their probable pitchers for the week. Sproat is slated to pitch Thursday, with Jonah Tong making his Triple-A debut on Saturday. McLean is expected to start Sunday. Of course, plans will change if either McLean or Sproat receive a call-up.

Tylor Megill made his first rehab start with Double-A Binghamton, pitching 1 2/3 innings. He allowed three hits and a walk while fanning four.
To celebrate Alonso setting a new Mets franchise home run record, the Cyclones will wear special Polar Pete jerseys during Sunday’s game.

Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports that closer Josh Hader is heading to the injured list due to a left shoulder strain. The 31-year-old southpaw has been one of the league’s best relievers this season, with a 2.05 ERA and 28 saves on the year.
The 2025 MLB postseason will begin on Sept. 30, with the World Series set to start on Oct. 24. As comparison, last year’s postseason began on Oct. 1, and the World Series started on Oct. 25.
Shohei Ohtani and his agent Nez Balelo are being sued by Hawaii developer Kevin J. Hayes Sr. and broker Tomoko Matsumoto, who claim they were pushed out of a $240 million luxury housing project on the Big Island, as reported by Jimmy Golen of AP News. The lawsuit accuses Ohtani and Balelo of using their influence to pressure the project’s partner, Kingsbarn Realty Capital, into removing them to serve their own financial interests. Kingsbarn has called the claims “completely frivolous and without merit.”
Per the New York Post‘s Jon Heyman, Paragon Sports has signed Kang Baek Ho, a 26-year-old Korean player, to explore MLB opportunities this offseason. Kang is a left-handed power hitter capable of playing first base, designated hitter, and serving as a third catcher. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the KBO draft and boasts a career batting average of .300. Kang will enter MLB as a full free agent without any posting restrictions.
