Good morning, Mets fans!

After the 160th game of New York Mets baseball, Pete Alonso has hit 52 home runs which ties cross-town Bronx Bomber, Aaron Judge, for the most home runs hit in a rookie season. Alonso has surpassed and created new records throughout Mets History, most home runs hit in a single season, most home runs hit at home in a single season, most home runs in his rookie season.. the list goes on.

With a resumé like that, not including his 2019 Home Run Derby win, it is hard not to see him winning the National League Rookie of the Year award. Who knows, maybe there are a few NL MVP votes in his future as well.

The Mets take the opener of their last series of the 2019 season over the Atlanta Braves with a 4-2 win. Pete Alonso and J.D. Davis both hit home runs in this game to give the team a 4-2 lead. Marcus Stroman threw six innings of 2 run baseball while striking out eight Braves batters. Stroman ends his season with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.88 ERA in his last four starts. Jeurys Familia threw a solid inning of work striking out one batter and Seth Lugo threw two innings to get the save.

Steven Matz (10-10, 4.37 ERA) will make his final start of 2019 against the Braves tonight and will face off against Mike Foltynewicz (13-4, 2.60 ERA). The game will be broadcasted on FOX for Saturday Night Baseball at 7:15 p.m, and can be heard on WCBS 880 AM and ESPN 1050 AM.
