Good morning Mets fans!

The drama swirling around the New York Mets continued on Monday, as they dealt with the fallback from Sunday’s clubhouse debacle between Mickey Callaway, Jason Vargas and the beat reporter that they antagonized.

After all of the drama that was taking place off the field, the Mets simply did not look up to the task on it, as they got blown out by the Philadelphia Phillies in a 13-7 slugfest that included a combined eight home runs between the two teams. Stephen Matz really struggled for New York, as failed to make it out of the fifth inning after giving up seven runs on 10 hits and three walks.

Tonight, the Mets will once again take on the Phillies, with Walker Lockett (0-3, 23.14 ERA) set to make his second start for the club after allowing six runs in 2 1/3 innings in his last time out. Lockett will square off against Jake Arrieta (6-6, 4.12 ERA), as the Mets try to rebound from two consecutive losses. Tonight’s game is scheduled for a 7:05 ET start and can be seen on SNY as well as heard on WCBS 880.

The Mets announced that right-hander Noah Syndergaard will make a rehab start today with the Brooklyn Cyclones. He could then rejoin the Mets on Sunday to start against the Brewers according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
