The Mets signed RHP Sam McWilliams to a major league deal on Friday, and Michael Mayer of MetsMerizedOnline reported the breaking news. According to Tim Healey of Newsday, McWilliams had offers from 15 teams and chose the Mets.

Michael Mayer of MetsMerizedOnline also reported that Mike Chernoff is not a candidate for the Mets’ front office.

Noah Syndergaard commented on the recent retirement announcement from his former manager Terry Collins, tweeting, “I will always be grateful to this man. Simply an amazing human. Thank you TC.”

The San Francisco Giants have selected OF Alexander Canario, RHP Kervin Castro, RHP Camilo Doval, and RHP Gregory Santos, according to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic. The team decided to designate C Aramis Garcia, RHP Jordan Humphreys, and 1B/OF Chris Shaw. Humphreys is a former member of the Mets farm system.

The Arizona Diamondbacks made a few roster moves Friday afternoon. The Diamondbacks claimed RHP Rogelio Armenteros from the Astros and outright INF Domingo Leyba to Triple-A Reno Aces. Their 40-man roster is at 37.

RHP Emilio Vargas was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox.

Additionally, the Chicago White Sox purchased three player contracts: INF Jake Burger, INF Gavin Sheets, and RHP Tyler Johnson.

Former A’s star Yonder Alonso announced his retirement on Instagram on Friday, and reporter Ben Ross captured the speech he posted.

Juan Toribio of MLB reported that the Tampa Bay Rays have designated OF Hunter Renfroe for assignment.

The Milwaukee Brewers added three players to their 40-man roster: C Mario Feliciano, RHP Alec Bettinger, and RHP Dylan File.

The Boston Red Sox designated LHP Matt Hall and RHP Ryan Weber for assignment. LHP Kyle Hart cleared waivers and was outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.

The Red Sox also selected some players to add to their 40-man roster: INF/C Connor Wong, RHP Eduard Bazardo, 3B Hudson Potts, RHP Bryan Mata, RHP Connor Seabold, OF Jeisson Rosario, and LHP Jay Groome.

The Dodgers added RHPs Gerardo Carrillo, Andre Jackson, and Edwin Uceta, and OF Zach Reks to their 40-man roster.

The New York Yankees selected four players to add to their 40-man roster in RHP Roansy Contreras, RHP Yoendrys Gomez, RHP Alexander Vizcaino, and INF Oswald Peraza.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported that the Nationals are showing interest in INF DJ LeMahieu, who they notably were pursuing when he was a free agent two offseason ago.

The Atlanta Braves claimed INF Jake Mayfield off of waivers from the Astros.

Todd Zolecki of MLB reported that the Philadelphia Phillies have added LHP Kyle Dohy, LHP Bailey Falter, LHP Damon Jones, INF Nick Mason, RHP Francisco Morales, and OF Simon Muzziotti to the 40-man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft.

The Phillies announced that they have hired Caleb Cotham as the team’s new pitching coach.

The Miami Marlins added INF Jose Devers and OF Jerar Encarnacion to the 40-man roster.
