
Good morning, Mets fans!
Many baseball fans stayed up into the wee hours of the morning last night in anticipation of a potential deal between MLB and the MLBPA. Talks went on for more than 16 hours, until eventually the two sides decided to call it a night.
All hope is not lost, though. As Jeff Passan of ESPN reported, there was enough progress made that they established a new deadline to still have the MLB season start on time. That deadline is 5 p.m. ET today.

The Mets have made a series of front office hires hires recently, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic. The Mets have hired Nick Spar as the director of baseball operations, Steve Martone as a special assistant, Nate Horowitz as the senior director of player personnel and Jonathan Strangio as the vice president of baseball operations.
The Mets have also hired Amelia Probst as a Baseball Analytics Associate, per her Twitter.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Marlins were in “fairly serious” talks with Reds star Nick Castellanos before the lockout. The team also offered Avi García and Starling Marte long-term deals prior to the lockout, per Craig Mish of the Miami Herald.
With the departure of Derek Jeter, Miami general manager Kim Ng will be the key decision maker for the organization, according to Craig Mish of Miami Herald.
The Yankees have hired Hensley Meulens as their an assistant hitting coach, according to the team’s PR Twitter account. Meulens played five seasons with the Bronx Bombers from 1989-1993.
The MLBPA has put together a “fully staffed” training stadium and facility in Mesa, Ariz., according to Robert Murray of FanSided.
MLB.tv will not bill customers until a new CBA is in effect, according to the streaming service’s Twitter. MLB.tv will notify subscribers about their renewals once it is in effect.
