Emma Baccellieri of Sports Illustrated wrote about Melissa Ludtke and her struggles as a women in sports reporting, and just how far women have come since her lawsuit against the MLB over 40 years ago. In 1978, Ludtke vs Kuhn was filed as a lawsuit against the MLB commissioner at the time, Bowie Kuhn, to fight for Ludtke’s right to enter major-league clubhouses and do her job as a professional reporter for Sports Illustrated.

With the announcement of Kim Ng as the Marlins new GM, which Michael Mayer of MMO wrote about on Friday afternoon, Baccellieri decided to reminisce on how far women have come in the world of sports since that court case.

MLB.com writers, Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo, and Mike Rosenbaum, projected each MLB team’s 2021 Rookie of the Year candidate. The Mets’ nominee is LHP Thomas Szapucki who posted a 2.63 ERA in 2019 after a 22-month absence due to TJS. In 2019, he had 72 strikeouts over a career-high 61 two-thirds innings over three levels.

Ha-Seong Kim, 25, from the Kiwoom Heroes, will likely be a free agent after Thanksgiving. Kim, INF, has been a big name for this year’s free agent market and his presence in the market will shake things up for those MLB infielders already on the market in Marcus Semien, Didi Gregorius, and Andrelton Simmons.

According to the Reds GM, Nick Krall, Cincinnati is looking for a shortstop this offseason. Krall discussed his off-season plans with reporters on Friday.
