Good Morning Mets fans!

Brodie Van Wagenen’s first morning and afternoon at the Winter Meetings went without much fanfare.

However, at 11 p.m. ET,  Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic broke the news that the Mets, Yankees, and Marlins have been working on a three-team deal that would send J.T. Realmuto to Queens and Noah Syndergaard to the Bronx. However, Andy Martino quickly dispelled some of the fire, saying nothing is imminent.

The Mets are talking about deals to Marlins that center on Realmuto and, at the same time, calling to the Yankees try to involve them in the deal as well, per Rosenthal.

Martino added that the Yankees’ interest in the Mets starting pitching is not limited to Syndergaard.

Earlier in the day, Van Wagenen had some interesting quotes in his end-of-the-day press conference.

He said, “The way I look at any trade, we want the trade to make us better; we don’t want to create a hole that we didn’t have by filling a hole that we did have”, indicating that he’s unlikely to trade any of Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, and Amed Rosario.

He also mentioned his desire to get players who can hit right-handers, claiming that “in a perfect world, we would be able to get some better balance in our lineup […] whether that’s additional right-handed hitters or [switch hitters], we’re trying to create some balance.”

The Mets met with Wilson Ramos’s representatives. The Mets have been rumored to be looking for catching help this winter and Ramos would help fill their void.
