Good morning, Mets fans!
The New York Mets are rolling! In the series finale against the NL East first-place Philadelphia Phillies, Citi Field continued to work its magic against their in-division rival. Nolan McLean, in his third career start, went eight shutout innings and became the first pitcher in Mets history to win his first three career starts. The Mets offense went up 3-0 early after a three-run third inning and Mark Vientos put the hammer down with a two-run, seventh-inning bomb.
The Phillies have now lost 10 straight at Citi Field.
After a 6-0 victory gave the Mets the sweep over Philly, they will be right back in action against the Miami Marlins on Thursday. Clay Holmes will be getting the ball for the Mets.
The Reds lost to the Dodgers again, 5-1, so the Mets are a sizable 4.5 games up in the Wild Card race. They’re within four games of the Phillies for first place in the NL East.
