Good morning Mets fans!!

Tonight, the Mets will kick off an important four-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The red-hot Dbacks, winners of their last 12 of 13, will send Merrill Kelly (10-13, 4.69 ERA) against 2018 Cy Young award winner Jacob deGrom (8-8, 2.76 ERA). The game can be viewed on SNY and WCBS 880 at 7:10 p.m.

The Mets took an early 3-0 lead, but the Phillies rallied against Noah Syndergaard and the Mets’ bullpen. After Philly took a quick 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth, Brandon Nimmo tied up the game in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI single.The following inning, Paul Sewald gave up a run and the duo of Luis Avilán and Justin Wilson proved to be just as ineffective.

Pete Alonso extended his on-base streak to 33 games, which tied the franchise record.

Scoreboard Watching

With their loss to the Phillies, the Mets fell four games behind the Cubs, who still own the second-place Wild Card.The Phillies are now only two games behind Chicago in the Wild Card standings.

The Diamondbacks (1.5 games back of the Cubs) were walked off against by offensive machine Michael Lorenzen and the Reds while the Brewers also sit two games behind Chicago despite their 8-5 win.
