With Christmas in the rearview mirror, the Mets still have question marks surrounding their starting rotation. Kodai Senga, José Quintana, and Luis Severino appear to have their spots locked up, while Adrian Houser, Tylor Megill, José Butto, and Mike Vasil are among the candidates for the other spots in the rotation. Previous reports have indicated the Mets likely won’t pursue top free agent starters Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery, though Shōta Imanaga and Lucas Giolito remain options as mid-rotation arms.

Former major league reliever Kyle Keller has inked a contract with the Yomiuri Giants of NPB. Keller has spent the last two seasons with the Hanshin Tigers, pitching to a 1.71 ERA in 26 1/3 innings in 2023. Cumulatively, Keller has a 2.37 ERA in 76 innings in Japan.
