Spring training games are officially under way! The Mets split their Grapefruit League opening doubleheader with a loss to Houston and a home-opening win over the Marlins. The Mets will take on the Washington Nationals today at 1:00 p.m. at Clover Park.

Per Tyler Milliken of Zo and Bertran, the first “wild moment of the pitch clock era” occurred on Saturday with the Red Sox and Braves tied 6-6 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning as Cal Conley was not set in the box prior to the mandatory eight second timing rule for the batter to be set.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Jameson Taillon loved New York and came close to moving to the Mets (and had also considered Philadelphia who were offering the best deal/ most money), but ultimately Taillon said he’s thrilled to be a Cub.

The average game time for spring training games in 2022 were 3:01, making a -25 minute difference. When MLB tested the pitch clock at the minor league level in 20222, the average game times had also dropped by 25 minutes.
