The Mets have agreed to terms with Juan Soto on a 15-year contract worth $765 million, making it the largest deal in the history of sports. The deal includes a $75 million signing bonus and an opt-out clause after the 2029 season, though the Mets can void it if they raise Soto’s average annual salary to $55 million. The deal has a maximum value of $805 million.

The Mets have signed right-hander Oliver Ortega to a minor league contract with an invite to major league spring training. Ortega missed all of 2024 after undergoing surgeries for a bone spur and loose bodies in his right elbow. Ortega has pitched in 58 innings across three big-league seasons with the Angels and Twins, recording a 4.03 ERA with 51 strikeouts against 27 walks.

Francisco Lindor‘s go-ahead two-run homer to clinch the Mets a playoff spot against the Braves was ranked the 10th-best play of the season by MLB.com. Lindor’s grand slam against the Phillies in NLDS Game 4 ranked 23rd.

The Dodgers have agreed to a one-year, $17 million contract with Michael Conforto. The 31-year-old put together his best season since 2020, batting .237/.309/.450 (112 wRC+) with 20 homers over 488 plate appearances for the Giants.

In other Dodgers news, they have agreed to re-sign fireballer Blake Treinen to a two-year contract worth $22 million. Treinen missed much of the last three years due to injury, but was fantastic in 50 games in 2024, posting a 1.93 ERA with 56 strikeouts against 11 walks across 46 2/3 innings. He continued his strong play in the postseason, posting a 2.92 ERA with 18 strikeouts and three saves in 12 1/3 innings.

Dick Allen and Dave Parker were voted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Classic Baseball Era Committee. Allen received votes from 13 of the 16 committee members, while Parker received 14.
