Good morning, Mets fans!

Shortly after it was reported by Ken Rosenthal, Dan Hayes and Andy McCullough of the Athletic and our own Michael Mayer that the Mets were interested in signing Carlos Correa, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that SS Carlos Correa and the San Francisco Giants agreed on a 13-year, $350 million contract. The Giants got their franchise player, but they had to pay a hefty premium to get the deal done before more offers would have been presented to Correa.

Before the Carlos Correa signing was announced, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported that the Giants had been in contact with Dansby Swanson about a potential contract, but that is now most likely off the table for San Francisco.

Now, it is time for the morning briefing.
