After an off day Friday, the Mets will continue their three-game series against Marlins with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Saturday. This will be the Mets’ first action since their dramatic, controversial walk-off win in their home opener on Thursday. They come into Saturday’s matchup with a 2-2 record on the young season.

Per Rustin Rodd of The Athletic, Friday commemorated the day 35 years ago that nine members of the 1986 Mets team recorded a sports rap song titled, “Get Metsmerized.”

According to Tim Healey of Newsday, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred was at the Mets home opener at Citi Field and spent time with Mets owner Steve Cohen in his owners suite.

Joe McDonald of Worcester T&G reported Friday that the Boston Red Sox alternate site camp will play two games throughout the weekend against the Mets alternate camp site in Brooklyn. They will then play two games next weekend at Polar Park. It was not yet announced whether fans will be allowed in the ballparks for these exhibition matchups.

Steve Cohen made a statement on Twitter on Thursday’s Mets home opener, saying, “What a game that was yesterday. McNeil’s home run was so clutch. Only 8,000 fans and the place was still rocking. [Thank you] Mets fans for being the best fans in baseball.”

The Mets announced on Friday that Dominic Smith is their “The 42 Series” player in MLB The Show to remember Jackie Robinson.

Mets minor leaguer Josh Hejka posted on Twitter: “Thanks to the Mets for helping minor leaguers get the pfirst dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. Pfeels great to take such a huge step toward better personal and community health!”

1969: Tommy Agee hits a home run to the top tier of Shea Stadium in left field. It was the longest home run to reach the seats in Shea Stadium history. The Mets placed a disc in the upper deck at the Flushing ballpark to commemorate Agee’s home run.
