Good Morning Mets Fans! The Metropolitans fell to the Washington Nationals on Sunday by a score of 12-9 as they narrowly escaped the early hole they dug themselves into.

Zack Wheeler had a tough outing against the Nats as he was tagged for seven runs in just 4.2 innings pitched.

The Mets offense was able to muster four runs off of Max Scherzer but were unable to scratch and claw their way out against Washington’s bullpen to take the series victory. Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto both hit home runs in a losing effort and combined for six RBI on the day.

The team will regroup today before Jacob deGrom and company welcome in the Minnesota Twins for the Mets’ first round of interleague play in 2019.
