This is getting dicey now.
With the Cardinals clinching the NL Central, that leaves the Brewers, Cubs, Nationals, Phillies and Mets left in the race for the two NL Wild spot.
With the Nationals falling to the Marlins and Brewers sweeping the Pirates yesterday, Washington and Milwaukee are tied atop the NL Wild Card. Behind them are the Cubs (four games back), the Mets (four and a half games back), and the Phillies (five games and a half back)
The Nationals are playing the Phillies five times in the next four days. The Phillies need to go 4-1 in their series and the Mets need to sweep the Marlins in their four-game set for New York to have any shot at the Wild Card entering the final series.
Well, Mets, you’re at your tee shot. Don’t shank it.
